Working Towards a Cleaner Planet

As part of Outspoken Project’s policy to participate in community activities, Jordan has recently spent a day with 49 other volunteers and members of the National Trust, clearing 44kg of litter from West Wittering’s popular beach as part of the Great British Beach Clean (GBBC).  The GBBC has been held annually for the past 25 years and has been a strong influence in the plastic bag charge and the ban on microplastics in personal care products.

“Protecting the environment has always been a passion of mine, so when given the opportunity to take a day out of the office to volunteer in the community, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.”

“Items we removed from the beach varied from loft insulation to lollipop sticks and of course, a large amount of micro plastics. It was great to work with members of the community that I wouldn’t ordinarily work with, whilst at the same time, doing my bit to help protect the environment on our doorstep.”

The Marine Conservation Society organise beach cleans all year round, so why not find out if there’s a clean-up near you?!

As well as getting involved in local community activities, members of the Outspoken Projects team have also donated their time by litter picking in the areas surrounding the office and have so far removed 175 bags of litter from the local streets and waterways this year!
